Coast region comprises Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu counties. The prevalent security challenges include incidences of radicalization and violent extremism, the emergence of organized gangs fueling criminal violence and inter-communal conflicts across the region. In this insecure context, women and girls bear the greatest brunt of gender-based violence both in domestic and social spaces.
