The first case of COVID-19 was reported in Marsabit County
on 7 June 2020. 1 Since then, the number of people infected
by the disease in the county had risen to 17 as at 18 August
2020. Though the rate of infection in the county is currently
low 2 , there exists increased levels of mistrust and stigma
towards people from perceived hotspot areas such as Nairobi
and Mandera counties.
